Najeon Chilgi Mother of Pearl Picture Frame — Butterfly

Overview

This Najeon Chilgi mother-of-pearl picture frame features the Butterfly (나비 (nabi)) motif, a Korean symbol of joy and marital harmony. Hand-inlaid iridescent shell is set into deep Korean lacquer, so the design shifts in color as the light moves. It frames a treasured photograph or artwork while standing as a decorative object in its own right on a desk, mantel, or shelf.

Heritage & Craft

The butterfly carries wishes of joy, love, and marital harmony in Korean tradition, and a pair of butterflies is a classic emblem of a happy union. Rendered in iridescent mother-of-pearl, the wings flicker with rainbow color against the lacquered ground.
