Hand-Carved Wood Sculpture - Lovers' Kiss by Kim Dong-heon

Overview

A blocky, abstracted hand-carved wood sculpture of two figures leaning into each other. The forms are reduced to stacked planes, with the meeting point of the two heads left as the focus.

Craft

Carved from solid wood and hand-finished, with tool marks and grain left visible and a graduated stain from pale to dark. Each piece is worked by hand, so proportions and colouring vary slightly between examples.

Artist

The work of Kim Dong-heon, a Korean wood-carving artisan, whose hand-finishing gives each piece its individual character.
