A pen case faced in Korean hand embroidery (sonjasu). Needlework, not lacquerware — the pattern is stitched in silk thread rather than inlaid in shell.

Heritage & Craft

In Korean embroidery the image is made by stitch direction and thread colour alone, with shading graded by swapping silk tone mid-motif. The completed panel is mounted over a firm case sized for pens and brushes.
