A handcrafted Korean najeonchilgi 5-drawer jewelry chest decorated with the arabesque & ten symbols of longevity design in hand-inlaid natural mother-of-pearl.
Heritage & Craft
Flowing arabesque scrolls (dangcho) surround the Ten Symbols of Longevity (sipjangsaeng) — sun, clouds, mountains, water, pine, crane, deer, turtle and more — a classic Korean blessing for a long life. In najeonchilgi, slivers of natural shell are cut and set into the lacquer by hand, so every piece is slightly different.
