A medium double-lidded jewelry box in black lacquer with a peacock in hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl, attributed to Oh Myung-ho.
Heritage & Craft
Against the deep black ground the peacock's tail becomes the whole performance — every eye-spot an individually cut piece of natural nacre flashing blue, green, and rose as the box turns. An emblem of nobility and good fortune; the double lid opens to a tray over a deeper well.
Artist
Attributed to Oh Myung-ho. Hand-finished, each example subtly individual — effectively one of a kind.
