Overview
A double-lidded mother-of-pearl jewelry box covered in a flowering arabesque vine, hand-inlaid in natural nacre over lacquered wood.
Heritage & Craft
The flowering arabesque (dangcho scroll with blossoms) has decorated Korean lacquerware since the Goryeo era, its endless vine a symbol of continuity and flourishing fortune. The double-lidded form — an upper tray over a deeper well — is the traditional configuration for a bride's keepsakes.
Artist
Attributed to Oh Myung-ho. Each box is hand-finished and subtly individual — effectively one of a kind.
