Heritage & Craft

The butterfly (nabi) is Korea's messenger of joy and love, and the octagon (palgak) is an auspicious form. Jang Tae-bok works in the exacting kkeun-eum tradition, cutting and laying fine strips of nacre one by one for crisp, luminous line work.

The work of Jang Tae-bok. Assembled strip by strip by hand, so no two boxes are identical — effectively one of a kind.
