Overview
A small eight-sided jewelry box in the Joseon style, its lid worked with flowers and a butterfly in hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl.
Heritage & Craft
The octagon (palgak) is an auspicious form in Korean tradition, and the butterfly-at-the-blossom motif reads as joy and love finding their place. Joseon-era workshops favored exactly this pairing of geometric body and naturalistic inlay; each petal and wing here is an individually cut piece of natural shell.
