Najeon Chilgi Hand Mirror & Medicine Case

Overview

This Najeon Chilgi mother-of-pearl hand mirror and case set pairs a compact hand mirror with a small lidded case, both finished in iridescent Korean shell inlay. Hand-cut mother-of-pearl is set into deep lacquer, so each piece glints with shifting rainbow color—pretty on a vanity and handy in a bag.

Heritage & Craft

Najeon-chilgi is the Korean art of inlaying cut mother-of-pearl into lacquer. Hand-cut fragments of iridescent shell are embedded into layers of natural lacquer (ottchil) and polished to a deep, durable shine, so the surface glints with shifting rainbow color as it catches the light.
