Najeon Chilgi Mother of Pearl Ballpen & Letter Opener

Overview

This Najeon Chilgi mother-of-pearl pen and letter opener set pairs a ballpoint pen with a matching letter opener, each finished in iridescent Korean shell inlay. Hand-cut mother-of-pearl is set into deep lacquer, giving the desk set a shifting, rainbow-toned shimmer.

Heritage & Craft

Najeon-chilgi is the Korean art of inlaying cut mother-of-pearl into lacquer. Hand-cut fragments of iridescent shell are embedded into layers of natural lacquer (ottchil) and polished to a deep, durable shine, so the surface glints with shifting rainbow color as it catches the light.
