Small Najeon Chilgi Mother of Pearl Picture Frame — Plum Blossom

Overview

This Small Najeon Chilgi mother-of-pearl picture frame features the Plum Blossom (매화 (maehwa)) motif, a Korean symbol of perseverance and renewal. Hand-inlaid iridescent shell is set into deep Korean lacquer, so the design shifts in color as the light moves. It frames a treasured photograph or artwork while standing as a decorative object in its own right on a desk, mantel, or shelf.

Heritage & Craft

The plum blossom opens while snow still lingers, making it Korea's emblem of perseverance, purity, and hope renewed. One of the Four Gracious Plants, it has been a scholar's motif for centuries. Cut from mother-of-pearl, the delicate petals glow with a soft pearlescent sheen against the lacquer.
