Hand-Carved Wood Sculpture - Beautiful Journey Together (Large) by Kim Dong-heon

Overview

A tall, narrow hand-carved wood sculpture of two figures standing shoulder to shoulder, titled for the journey a couple makes together. The pair is carved almost as one column, separating only at the heads and feet — two people, one silhouette.

Craft

Carved from solid wood and hand-finished, with the grain and tool marks left visible and a graduated stain from pale to dark. Each piece is worked by hand, so proportions and colouring vary slightly between examples.

Artist

The work of Kim Dong-heon, a Korean wood-carving artisan, whose hand-finishing gives each piece its individual character.
