Hand-Carved Wood Sculpture - Heartfelt Wish by Kim Dong-heon

Overview

A horizontal hand-carved wood sculpture: a broad plank-like form set on a dark base, with a group of small figures gathered at one side. The wide plane reads as a wall or a field, the figures as people standing before it.

Craft

Carved from solid wood and hand-finished, the grain deliberately left open across the broad face and the stain graduated from pale to dark. Each piece is worked by hand, so grain, proportion and colour vary.

Artist

The work of Kim Dong-heon, a Korean wood-carving artisan.
