Heritage & Craft

Crane and pine are Korea's enduring pair for long life and steadfast character. Jang Tae-bok works in the exacting kkeun-eum tradition, cutting and laying fine strips of nacre one by one; the rounded lid lets the line work catch light across its whole curve.

Artist

The work of Jang Tae-bok. Assembled strip by strip by hand, so no two boxes are identical — effectively one of a kind.
