Overview
A sunflower in full bloom, cut petal by petal from iridescent shell and set into a deep blue lacquer panel. This is a finished decorative panel rather than a photo frame — the inlaid picture is permanent, and nothing needs to be added to it. The blue ground pushes the warm gold and rose tones of the nacre forward, so the flower appears lit from within against a plain wall.
Heritage & Craft
Korean najeonchilgi begins with abalone shell ground down into thin, flexible sheets, then sawn and nipped into individual petal and leaf shapes. Those fragments are laid onto a wooden panel, sealed under repeated coats of ottchil (Korean lacquer), and finally rubbed back by hand until the shell reappears level with the surrounding surface. Nothing here is printed or transferred; every piece sits where an artisan placed it.
The sunflower is a comparatively recent arrival in Korean decorative art, and it took hold as shorthand for incoming fortune — the flower that always turns toward the light. Panels like this are often hung facing the entrance of a home or shop so that what they represent meets you on the way in.

Gifting
Well suited to a housewarming, a shop or office opening, or a milestone birthday — occasions where the sunflower's association with incoming luck is the point. Because it hangs rather than sits, it also suits recipients who have run out of shelf space but still have a wall.
